Fat Burning Secrets

Do you know the best ways to burn body fat? We'll explore a few of the ones that can produce good results and you may discover a few hidden secrets in the process. Some will seem really simple, but simple doesn't mean they aren't effective because you'll soon discover how small changes can have dramatic results.

Burning body fat and losing weight can happen much quicker when you raise your metabolism. There are some simple ways to raise metabolism, and once you learn how to do it, your body can burn fat much more efficiently.

Cardio workouts are great metabolism boosters and while these intense workouts will burn fat and calories, your body's level of lean muscle mass actually has a much bigger impact on your metabolism.

Since it takes your body a lot of energy to maintain muscle tissue, the more muscle you have, the more calories and fat you'll burn even after exercising. So does that mean you have to be a body builder to get these benefits? Absolutely not, because even adding a light weight lifting program to your workouts can raise your metabolism.

The benefit to raising your metabolism is you will burn body fat and calories long after your workout. This is called your resting metabolic rate and it makes up 60 to 75 percent of your total metabolism.

If a weight lifting program is just not possible for you, the next best thing that you can do to raise metabolism is walking. Believe it or not walking this is one of the most simple fat burning secrets there is. Walking is very effective, costs nothing and anyone can raise your metabolism doing it.

The best way to begin is with short ten minute walks and slowly work up to thirty minutes a day as your leg muscles get more used to it. Take a short walk after your lunch if the mornings are not possible for you. Get used to taking the stairs instead of the elevator because stairs work as a great metabolism booster.

Other good ways to raise metabolism can include the foods you eat. When you eat food can also make a difference in your metabolism. A lot of people think that skipping meals is a good way to lose weight. But in fact, when you skip meals or go for long periods between eating, your body slows your metabolism down to conserve energy.

One of the best ways to raise metabolism and keep it up is to eat meals more often and in smaller amounts. As simple as this sounds, eating this way actually increases your chances for sustained weight loss.

Another way to raise metabolism is by eating the right kinds of foods. Eating foods higher in protein instead of carbohydrates and fat is another great metabolism booster. Your resting metabolic rate increases two to three times more after eating protein than it does after eating carbohydrates and fat.

Some people think everything has to be complicated to work. But in fact, there are a lot of simple, common sense things like this that can work very well to raise your metabolism and offer you safe and healthy weight loss.
